A Parish Mission is simply an organized event or events at a parish (or church), aimed at deepening the faith of the people already present at that parish or helping non-involved members of the community rediscover the concept and meaning of God's grace and how to reconnect with Him on a personal level.
Why is the parish having this mission?
Fr. Sinisa, the pastor of the parish, during prayer one day, felt a deep invitation by the Lord to invite the brothers and sisters who have fallen away from the faith or have never been exposed to it. Over the months, the idea of having a parish mission developed. We have been praying for you and offering sacrifices for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
Who will be speaking during the mission?
A number of lay missionaries will be there. Some of them have had a rough upbringing and discovered God's grace along the way and became missionaries. Through their witness, there will be a focus on answering questions such as, "If God is good, why is there so much suffering and evil in the world?" or "Where is God when my life seems to be falling apart?"
Who should attend this Parish Mission?
If you are someone who has wondered if God knows you; or you have struggled with connecting with others, or find yourself suffering without much support, or want to better understand the Catholic faith and how it leads a better, more virtuous life, then this is for you. Also for those who have fallen away from their faith, or have never been exposed to the life of Jesus Christ, or what He calls us to do in this life. For those who seek a deeper meaning and purpose for their existence, and those who ponder the fundamental questions written on their hears; Why am I here? What am I supposed to do with my life? What happens after death?
Do I have to be Catholic to attend?
No you do not. The only requirement is that you come with an open mind and heart. No one is there to make a judgement on your life and you won't be asked to do anything you're not comfortable with.
Do I have to attend every night of the mission?
We believe that anyone who comes during any of the sessions is meant to be there and has been invited by God's grace to be there. With that said, we will not keep track of attendance, but we would obviously want you to be there consistently.
Will there be altar calls, speaking in tongues or anything else of this sort?
There will be no altar calls or speaking in tongues. As the sessions conclude, you will be asked if you wish to continue on your faith journey.
Can I go to confession if needed?
Yes, during one of the sessions there will be a reconciliation night for those who wish to receive the sacramental grace of confession.
Where do I park? You can park across the street in the public parking spots behind Kravings or at the Church at 82 Exchange street and then proceed to walk to the Large Hall on 974 Main St.
